Do you sell anything on the site that I don’t see listed?

Generally, no. However we track each and every inquiry and we continually increase our inventory based on customer requests. Please check back frequently for new items.

Where are your products from?

Our material is supplied to us through a variety of national and international steel suppliers.

I don’t know what grade or material I need, can you help?

We are not metallurgists and are not able to give you advice on end use or guarantee the product is right for your job. Please know what type of material you will need before placing your order.


I need a quote. What do I do?

To create a quote, use the website and follow the orange icons. Quotes can be sent to one or multiple addresses and a Notes section is there for additional info or communications.


Who answers your phones?

Our call center operators answer the phones. They are not sales people. They are available to answer questions about website issues, tolerance questions, billing, or special shipping or cutting requirements.

Are the people who answer your phones metal experts?

No. They are not metallurgists and are not able to give you advice on end use or guarantee the product is right for your job.

Can the call center answer questions about tolerances?

Yes. We can give you specifics on tolerances.

Can your call center tell me if a products suitable for making a part?

No. We are neither engineers nor metallurgists.

Can I get a price break on a large order?

We do not offer price breaks. We are a small quantity metal dealer. If you seek larger quantities we can suggest companies for you to call who do deal in larger quantities and may have the price breaks.

How do I add special cutting instructions?

If you have special cutting instructions for your order, click on the Custom Cut option in the ordering process. This will open a dialog box which you can type in your specific requirements or you can also specify on the confirmation page of your order (the final step before confirming). There is a section there where you can add notes for the sales person or warehouse. If we have questions we will contact you before processing the order.

Please note that Metric Express does not have the capacity to production cut materials. Materials ordered will be cut to shipping requirement lengths only.

What are Certs and do I need them?

Certs are certificates of chemical and sometimes mechanical analysis of material. Certs are available on every item in our stock and we charge a $15 processing fee for each cert requested. You can select the cert check box next to each item when shopping.


How Do You Handle Returns?

Metric Express does not accept returns on cut pieces. Most of our material is cut. After an item has been cut, the sale is final and non-returnable. If Metric Express processes your order incorrectly, we will ship out a replacement immediately.


What are my payment options?

We accept all major credit cards. We do not offer terms.

How are Credit Cards processed?

Your order through Metric Express is handled in house via a credit card processing system. We will run your credit information after you have entered it through the website. If any additional charges occur, a sales person will contact you with this additional information. You can go into your account after the order has been processed to see the exact charges that were added by the sales staff. All credit card information is permanently removed from your account and irretrievable after processing.

Is my credit card information stored on your site?

No. We do not have the ability to save your credit card information, so if you need to re-order you will need to re-enter all credit card information. Our database does not store any of this information.

Shipping/ Packaging

Operating hours are 8 AM to 5PM EST. Orders placed after 3pm could be processed the next business day. Next Day Air (expedited) orders must be placed prior to 2pm (EST). We do not guarantee Next day delivery on any order placed after 2pm (EST).

How will my items be packaged?

Your items will be packaged in a wooden or cardboard enclosure, taped and bound for shipping. Our warehouse staff is knowledgeable and careful with the handleing of the products and knows exactly how to ship items as safely as possible.

What if my item arrives incorrect or damaged?

If your item arrives damaged, please refuse or return the item and notify us by phone or email. We will send out a replacement immediately upon arrival of the damaged or incorrect material. Please note all material will have slight surface imperfections and this is not a valid cause for return.

How do I specify shipping alternative methods?

Metric Express offers a variety of UPS shipping methods. We do not offer customer pick up or any other form of shipping. Selecting different UPS shipping options such as Next Day Air (Red Label) or 2nd Day Select will automatically revise shipping cost.

Where are my items being shipped from?

How long will it take to receive my order?

Your tracking number can be found in the upper left corner of the order once it has been processes. This code is a link that will take you to UPS’s site for detailed information.

What are your shipping terms?

All items will be shipped via UPS.

What if my item is longer that UPS allows?

Products measuring greater than 106" (inches) must be cut for shipping. You will be given options for cuts based on 1 foot increments. If you require special cutting instructions, please specify by selecting the Custom Cuts option in the ordering process and type in your request in the dialog box. You can also add additional notes in the Notes section of the order.

What is the material length tolerance on items?

All material ordered from this website is cut to length with a tolerance level of + or – 6”. Before you can proceed to the checkout you must accept this disclaimer. If you have special cutting requirement, please use the Custom Cuts or Notes field on the Checkout Page.

What if my items are heavier than UPS allows?

Metric Express will automatically charge additional costs to orders over 150 pounds for extra packaging.

How do I log in to my account?

If you already have an account, sign in to the site using your user name and password. Click on the My Account link on the right side of the screen. Here you will see links to your order history, and be able to make changes to your account.

How do I change my shipping, billing, email or password information?

Log in and click "My Account". Click on "View/ Change Address". Make appropriate changes here.

What if I lost my password?

Go to the Sign in page: https://www.metricexpress.com/Secure/login.aspx Enter your email address, and confirm. Submit and you will be sent a confirmation code. This code will be needed to re-set your password. Copy that code and follow the link provided. Paste the code into the “Confirmation Code” field and your new password. If you need additional help, contact our help center at: sales@metricexpress.com. We do not store or have access to your passwords, but we can assist you in changing them for you.

How do you protect my information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order or enter, submit, or access your personal information.

We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our database to be only accessed by those authorized with special access rights to our systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.

After a transaction, your private information (credit cards, social security numbers, financials, etc.) will not be stored on our servers.
